"Naina da Kya kasoor?"

That is just one of the million questions that this movie poses. Akash is a blind pianist living in Pune. He comes across Sophie accidentally (literally). Sophie takes an immediate liking to Akash and feels comfortable around him. She sets up a job for him at her father's restaurant where Akash starts playing the Piano. One day he is noticed by yesteryear actor Pramod Sinha who is fascinated by Akash's musical skills despite being blind. Pramod asks Akash to come to his apartment and play for his wife on the occasion of their anniversary. Pramod Sinha's wife Simmy is a young, beautiful woman who is way younger than Pramod. So, as planned Akash reaches Pramod's house where Simmy opens the door and takes Akash inside. She tells him that Pramod has gone out, so Akash starts playing for Simmy, but suddenly he notices a dead body in the other room. But how can he see a dead body when he's blind?
Well, as they say, every musician has a secret, in this case, Akash's secret was that he wasn't actually blind. It was just an experiment based on the belief that acting and feeling like a blind person would improve his focus.
Akash had no idea that this would land him in a huge mess, he goes to the police station to report the murder but he sees that the same policeman who was with Simmy in the apartment is present at the police station, so he somehow saves himself from spilling his secret that he's not blind. But Simmy and the policeman start doubting Akash, so they try to get to the bottom of the truth. Simmy goes to Akash's house and tricks him into eating sweets poisoned with a chemical that makes a person blind. Akash this time actually loses his sight and starts confronting Simmy which results in Akash getting unconscious. Suddenly there's a knock on the door, it's Sophie. To cover up the entire story, Simmy pretends to have slept with Akash who is still unconscious. Seeing this, Sophie gets enraged and storms out of the house. Akash is then attacked by the policeman, but somehow he escapes and lands in a hospital where a crook Doctor tries to extract his kidneys to sell them off for money. But just as this happened, Akash gives him a better alternative by telling him they can extract money from Simmy by kidnapping her and blackmailing her policeman boyfriend. But things unravel quite differently and nothing goes to plan.
Fast forward to the penultimate scene, The Doctor and Akash are driving Simmy who is locked in the back of the car to the airport, where they would trade her Liver to an Arab Sheikh. But then things take a turn again as Simmy manages to untie herself and attack the Doctor. She lets Akash go, as she had heard him be unwilling to participate in the Doctor's plan to sell her body. So she drops Akash next to a field and starts driving away, but then again she changes her mind and starts driving towards Akash, but as she is about to hit him hard, there's another story unfolding in the fields where a hunter is trying to shoot a blind rabbit, but the bullet misses the rabbit and the car misses Akash. Simmy falls over along with the car and dies. So this is the ending that Akash tells Sofie when he meets her at a Cafe somewhere in Europe, but what comes after that leaves us wondering whether he was actually telling the truth.

CONCLUSION

This is not a murder mystery, we know right from the start who has committed the murder, yet we don't know what's going to happen next. Each character has their own share of mystery and unpredictability. Ayushman Khurana does an excellent job playing a blind person in two different senses, once pretending to be and once in actuality. Tabu steals the show in an enchanting way that when she's on the screen one just can't help but ignore what's going on in the background. This is an unconventional Bollywood thriller which we do not see that often in India. The end of the movie has been smartly crafted to leave the audience wondering whom to believe.
