Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister |
Abe San, as he was fondly known by the people of Japan was a prominent figure in the political scene of Japan and the world.
He was the longest serving leader in Japanese history. He was the first prime minister to have been born after the world war II, and that was particularly evident in most of his policies. He worked tirelessly to improve the Japanese relations with the United States. He was an active figure on the American stage meeting up with Barrack Obama and also the notorious Donald Trump.
But that doesn't mean he was far from the controversy. His political views have often been called into question with some labelling him as ultra nationalist and a hardliner. His historic views on one topic are of particular interest for the liberal public as Abe refused to acknowledge the recruitment of comfort women during world war.
If you're feeling lost, let us clarify what we're talking about here.
It is widely believed that, Japanese soldiers forcefully recruited Korean Women for prostitution but Shinzo Abe failed to acknowledge that this event ever happened and this didn't bode well with the Koreans, resulting in the deterioration of relations between Japan and Korea.
Thus, we find contrasting opinions about Mr. Abe across the globe with some hailing him as a hero, while some seeing him as the antagonist.

On 8th July 2022, former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe got shot, and sadly couldn't survive the attack and he passed away. We are united in praying for his soul to be rested in peace. There's no denying the fact that he will always be a leader who will be remembered for long.
