The movie 'Classmates' is filled with love, hate, fight, politics, friendship, in a whole interesting and mysterious way that it will surely remind you of your college days. The movie begins with the board outside school labeled "Aniruddha Memorial Music Section" and a speech by the principle on her cool, helpful, joyous student, Aniruddha. But who is Aniruddha, what happened to him? And who is Satya, why was he isolating himself? How is he related to Aniruddha? These are some of the questions that would arise in your mind as you start watching it. Let us find out as we unravel all the characters in the movie.
Aniruddh aka Ani (Siddharth Chandekar), a cool, friendly, and fun-loving first-year, student, has only one wish – to build a music department in his college. Unfortunately, the music lover’s sudden demise leaves this dream unfulfilled but his classmates complete it. On the inauguration day of the department, all the old buddies – Appu (Sai Tamhankar) - a tomboy, Amit (Suyash Tilak) - her husband, Rohit (Sachit Patil) a swimmer and 'politician's son', Heena (Pallavi Patil), Aditi (Sonalee). niece of a politician, Ghatta and Sasha (1995, T.Y.B.A. batch) – meet. Also, a surprise visitor is Satya (Ankush Chaudhary), Aniruddha's best friend who had reappeared after 20 years.
As the group catches up on old memories, Satya falls off the terrace of the college building. Investigating officer Pratap (Sushant Shelar), another ex-student of the same college, who happens to have inspired from Satya's lively and cool character, finds a suicide note but knowing him so well he suspects that the fall is a case of murder. Hence unfolds the story of these classmates and their journey in life.
Satya was a college leader from the "Yuva Shakti party" and Appu had a crush on him, but she was scared to confess. When she finally decides to confess her love, Aditi and Satya start to fall in love with each other after an incident wherein he saves her from an acid attack ending their bitter hatred towards each other. Rohit being a son of a politician his destiny was pre-booked to be one from opposition to Satya's party though his only dream was to be the world's best swimmer. and also being politically related, Rohit was to marry Aditi.
All of their lively life were to halt when college elections take place. Actually, just before it, Yuva Shakti Party members threw black color on Rohit's father as a sign of bad example. This incident changes Rohit's life forever. He changes his mind of becoming a swimmer and rises to the path to take revenge, starting with all evil dirty politics. As the elections begin Rohit and Aditi's father decides that Aditi will be going to oppose Satya in elections. With all the tricks Satya, who was on the road of truth loses the election and also his best friend Aniruddha. Who died due to acute exacerbations of Asthama attack.
After all, this some question still remain highlighted, why did Satya isolate himself for so long? and if it's not suiciding who tried to kill him and why? Is it because Satya regrets that he could not help his friend at his last breath as he was busy with the election? if so why did he wait to commit suicide for so long? Was he waiting for Aniruddha's dream of the Music Section to come true? The answer is NO!! there comes a major twist in the story. And the twist comes with Aditi's friend Heena.

"Satya, Mala tuzyashi kahi tari bolaycha aahe" is the last sentence Satya heard from Aniruddha but he neglected those. Actually, he wanted to tell about Heena to Satya and wanted his help to elope her. But since he didn't listen he plans to run away with her without informing anyone and wait near the college for Heena to come. Satya, on knowing some evil politics of Rohit goes to the college to defuse his trick and accidentally gives chloroform to Aniruddha and locks him in the toilet thinking him to be a college guard. And since Aniruddha was an Asthama patient, he gets an asthma attack and dies. This compels Satya to write a suicide note and isolate himself. But still, it wasn't a suicide and was pushed by Heena on knowing the truth, though it was not on any intention.
